Uncle Roger
← Return to It takes Allsorts…
Nobody really knows who Uncle Roger is. He turned up 22 years ago for Christmas and became part of the family. He walks with a limp, smokes “secret ciggies” in the garden and sings songs by Frank Sinatra.
He lives nearby but no-one has ever been to his house. He never refers to “auntie”. Occasionally he will bring his dog Badger (an exuberant Springer Spaniel) much to the excitement of Angelina and Beckham. Everyone else hates the dog especially Gavin for whom the just the site of the dog brings on his asthma (his fear stems from being hemmed in to a corner by a poodle in an Asda car park).
Roger does have one skill that provides an invaluable service to the family at party time…MAGIC!
Roger’s magic makes Tommy Cooper look like David Copperfield. His tricks rarely go according to plan; Grandad is still getting over the destruction of his fob watch and they still all miss Sandy the family rabbit.
Despite this Roger is always welcomed into the house and is a great source of stories from the good old days which make everyone feel so grateful for the life that they have now.
Uncle Roger quote: “Abricabra… oops, sorry about that”
Favourite shop: “Millets”
